For the last 19 years, Supplies for Success, a 501(c)(3) public charity based in Sagaponack, has been supplying the physical tools needed for underserved American children to look to education for better lives. Every year they host and sponsor community, corporate and summer camp backpack assembly events, to provide new backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies to children in need before school starts. Such events take place in the Hamptons, NYC, Long Island, Westchester, Baltimore and Florida. This year, they donated more than 16,000 backpacks locally. Since inception, they have donated more than 120,000 backpacks. In the Hamptons, they work with most of the local schools, domestic violence shelters, human service organizations, churches and synagogues.
With children out of school due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, they established an emergency fund to address the needs of young children and their struggling families. Supplies for Success created ‘CareKits' for kids aged 3-8 that include educational materials, art supplies, and more to keep them busy and learning. To date, they have donated nearly 16,000 to local children in need. The CareKits are shipped to and distributed by food providers including, Island Harvest, Heart of the Hamptons, and Hamptons Community Outreach, and to hospitals, including Stony Brook and Northwell Health, for the children of their frontline healthcare employees.
