The Southampton Youth Association, affectionately referred to as S.Y.A., is a nonprofit organization that provides recreational services to local youth, during out of school time. It was established 52 years ago, in direct response to the negative impact that drugs was having on the youth of Southampton.  Since then, they have continued to create safe, fun, and healthy spaces where kids can be kids and develop strong character and leadership skills. 

 

It has also been their effort to create employment opportunities and be an advocate for young people.

 

COVID-19:  Throughout the pandemic they continued to support youth in various ways, including scholarships for SAT prep, martial arts classes, basketball clinics, and art intensives.  Their motto has been, "Distance makes the Fun grow Stronger" because they have been challenged to show children that you can have loads of fun even if you are 6 feet or further apart.
